Bianca didn't flinch.
She looked at Alessandro's shaking hands, then slowly smiled.
"The wedding is over?" she said.
"Darling, I *am* the wedding."
Rosalie pulled Livia closer, pressing the girl's face against her shoulder so she wouldn't have to look.
Alessandro stepped forward.
"You cut her hair.
She's a child."
"She touched my veil." Bianca's voice dropped to something colder.
"I warned her."
"She's seven years old, Bianca."
"Then she should have known better."
The room went still.
Even the makeup artist backed toward the wall.
Livia's small fingers gripped Rosalie's sleeve.
"Rosie…
is Daddy going to make her leave?"
Before Rosalie could answer, the door opened.
Alessandro's mother stood in the doorway.
She looked at the hair on the floor.
She looked at Livia's face.
Then she looked at Bianca — and something shifted behind her eyes.
"I need to speak with my son," she said quietly.
"Alone."
Bianca tilted her head.
"We're a little busy, Elena."
"It wasn't a request."
She held up a folded piece of paper.
Alessandro's face changed the moment he saw it.
"Where did you get that?" he whispered.
Elena didn't answer.
She just waited.
