Chapter 2: The Name That Silenced the Room

They didn't have to wait long.

Eleven minutes after my call, the ballroom doors opened.

Not with a bang.

Not with shouting.

They opened quietly.

Calmly.

Whitfield owns this property.

Chloe turned slowly toward me.

For the first time in three years, she had nothing to say.

But my father wasn't finished.

He reached into his jacket and produced a single folded document.

"I think," he said quietly, "we should discuss the security footage first."

Amanda, still clutching her silver purse near the flowers, took one step toward the exit.

One of the suited men moved to block her path without a word.

What the security footage revealed — and what was inside Amanda's purse — exposed a secret that went far deeper than a missing ring.
