Chapter 2: The Name on the Paper

He didn't move.
For a long moment, the man just lay there on the floor, chest heaving, eyes darting between the pharmacist and the two security officers now standing over him.
Then his expression shifted.
The surrender vanished.
Something colder replaced it.
"You have no idea who you're dealing with," he said quietly, his voice dropping to a low, controlled threat.
"I want your name.
I want your license number.
And I want your manager — right now."
The pharmacist didn't blink.
"My name is on my badge.
My license is on the wall.
And my manager is already watching the same footage I mentioned."
A door opened behind the counter.
The pharmacy manager stepped out — but he wasn't alone.
A woman in a gray blazer walked beside him, holding a folder.
She wasn't store staff.
She had a badge clipped to her lapel.
The man on the floor saw it and went completely still.
The elderly woman who had been waiting quietly this whole time slowly reached into her purse.
Her hands were shaking.
She pulled out a folded piece of paper and held it toward the pharmacist without a word.
"I think," the old woman said softly, "you need to see what name is actually on that prescription."
The pharmacist unfolded it.
Her eyes moved across the page — and stopped.
😶 What was on that paper?
What did the woman in the gray blazer know?
The full story is darker than you think.
