I pressed the button.
No dramatic sound.
No warning.
Just a quiet click — and the screen refreshed.
DEBT ACCELERATION INITIATED.
ESTIMATED COMPLETION: 6–8 HOURS.
I closed the laptop and went to check on Lily.
She was already asleep, one small fist curled against her cheek.

He spun toward me.
"Emily.
Did you do something?"
I looked at him calmly from the pillow.
"You told me to figure it out myself, Daniel."
His face went pale.
He took one step toward me — and then his phone rang again.
This time it was his mother.
I heard her voice screaming through the speaker before he even raised it to his ear.
What she said next stopped him completely.

What did Daniel's mother reveal in that call — and why did it make Daniel go silent?
The truth is bigger than Emily ever expected.
