Michael's voice was steady.
Calm.
Like he had been waiting for this moment for years.
"I also want to address something," he said.
"Because I think everyone here deserves to know the truth."
Chloe shifted in her seat.
"Three months ago," Michael continued, "I found out why my parents really divorced."
My breath stopped.
"It wasn't because they grew apart." He paused.
"It was because Chloe was already involved with my father while they were still married."
The gasps hit like a wave.
My ex, David, grabbed Chloe's arm.
His face had gone the color of ash.
"Michael—" he started.
"I'm not finished, Dad."
Michael reached into his jacket and pulled out a folded piece of paper.
"I have the dates.
I have the messages.
And I have a witness sitting in this room right now."
Chloe's hand flew to her mouth.
From three rows back, an older woman slowly stood up.
I recognized her immediately.
It was David's own sister.
She had known the whole time.
She looked directly at Chloe and said four words I will never forget.
