Chapter 2: The Signature That Wasn’t Mine

The sentence read: “Before leaving JFK, I froze the trust account you planned to access after our wedding.”

Julian’s hand began to shake.

“What does that mean?” Sienna demanded.

“It means Clara knows,” he muttered.

“Knows what?”

Before Julian could answer, the hotel phone rang.

The manager informed him that the suite, meals, and return flights were no longer covered by my account.

Julian would have to provide his own card immediately.

“You promised everything would be ours after the wedding,” Sienna snapped.

“You said Clara would never question the documents.”

Julian grabbed her wrist.

“Keep your voice down.”

Then his phone lit up again.

This time, it wasn’t a message from me.

It was an urgent email from the chairman of his company.

The subject line read: “Evidence of Fraud—Emergency Board Meeting.”

Attached was a document bearing my name—but the signature wasn’t mine.

Julian stared at Sienna.

“Tell me you didn’t submit this.”

Her confident smile disappeared.

Before she could answer, someone knocked hard on the suite door and called Julian’s name.
