Camille didn't move for three full seconds.
Then the shock cracked open and something uglier came through.
"You're ending our engagement." Her voice dropped to a whisper.
"Over a maid."
"Over what you just showed me," Gabriel said.
"She spilled tea on me, Gabriel.
At your table.
In front of your guests."
"She spilled tea on your sleeve." His eyes didn't leave her face.
"You burned her arm."
Camille laughed — short, disbelieving.
"This is insane.
You run the kind of business that makes men disappear, and you're ending a three-month engagement because I lost my temper with the help?"
The room went absolutely still.
Marco took one quiet step forward from the door.
Gabriel didn't answer.
He turned instead toward Elena, who was still pressed against the sideboard, cradling her arm, eyes down.
"Marco," he said.
"Get Dr.
Reyes.
Now."
"Yes, sir."
Camille's composure finally broke.
"Don't you dare walk away from me.
My father has lawyers who will—"
"Your father," Gabriel said quietly, "called me last Tuesday."
Something shifted in Camille's face.
Fast.
Gone in an instant — but everyone saw it.
"He told me something interesting," Gabriel continued.
"About Newport.
About the dinner where you put that ring on my finger."
Elena looked up for the first time.
And Gabriel looked directly at her.
"About why you were really in that room."
