Chapter 1: The Man Who Raised Her

She had made her choice, and now she was standing in the sunlit living room in her intricate lace wedding dress, looking her stepfather d*ad in the eye without a shred of hesitation.

"I feel dad should walk me down the aisle," she said, her voice completely smooth, as if she hadn't just shattered the heart of the man who had raised her.

💔

The middle-aged man stood frozen, holding the printed paper invoice for the venue, catering, and floral arrangements.

His face contorted in sheer disbelief as the weight of her betrayal landed.

"What?" he asked, his voice cracking as he fought back the sudden swell of emotion.

"After everything I've done for you?

I've been there for you since you were a little kid!" 😤

"Yeah," she replied casually, gently adjusting her veil as if discussing the weather.

"But he's my real dad."

A heavy, suffocating silence fell over the room.

The stepfather looked at her, searching her eyes for any trace of the little girl he had tucked into bed, comforted through nightmares, and supported through every milestone of her life.

He found nothing but cold detachment.

Slowly, the pain in his eyes hardened into a quiet, unyielding resolve.

Without saying a word, he turned the multi-page wedding invoice around and extended it directly toward her.

"Well," he said, his tone dropping an octave into a calm, icy composure.

"Have your real dad finish paying for the wedding."

The bride looked down at the figures printed on the paper, her breath catching in her throat as reality violently slammed into her.

The confidence in her posture instantly vanished, replaced by a sudden, surging panic.

😨

"So...

you're stopping my wedding?" she stammered, her voice trembling for the very first time.

He looked at her one last time, completely unbothered, and shook his head.

"No.

I'm just not paying for it." 🔥
