Chapter 2: Do Not Let Her Leave

Part 2 — continued in comments ⬇️

His men were already moving.

Two of them stepped forward, hands inside their jackets, eyes locked on me like I was a problem that needed solving.

"Boss." One of them spoke low.

"She heard the name."

The man didn't look at them.

He didn't look away from me.

"I know what she heard."

Leo's small hand was still pressed against my cheek.

Warm.

Trusting.

Completely unaware of what that one word — *Papa* — had just cost me.

My back was on fire.

The room was spinning.

But what terrified me most wasn't the pain.

It was the way his men were looking at me.

Like I had already become a liability.

"What is your name?" the man asked quietly.

"I—" My voice cracked.

"It doesn't matter."

"It matters to me."

Before I could answer, Julian appeared at the edge of the booth, white-faced, his immaculate vest finally showing sweat.

"Sir, I am so sorry — she's just a server, she doesn't know anything, she won't say a word, I can personally guarantee—"

"You." The man's gaze cut to Julian like a blade.

"Leave."

Julian vanished.

Leo tugged gently at the man's sleeve.

"Papa.

She's still hurting.

Why isn't anyone helping her?"

The man looked down at his son.

Something shifted in his face — something I wasn't supposed to see.

Then his phone rang.

He glanced at the screen.

Every trace of warmth disappeared instantly.

"Get her to the private room," he said to his men.

"Now.

And do not let her leave."
