Chapter 2: I Wanted to See Who You Really Were

Part 2 ⬇️
The older businessman didn't flinch.
He looked directly at the husband and said:
"You've been living in her house for three years.
Did she ever tell you?"
The husband's face went pale.
"That's impossible.
This house belongs to my mother."
The older man shook his head slowly.
"No.
It belongs to your wife.
It has always belonged to her."
Grandma slammed her hand on the table.
"Who are you?
You have no right to walk in here—"
"I have every right," he said quietly.
"I'm her father."
The room went completely still.
The wife stood near the door, her cheek still red, her hands steady.
She hadn't said a word since he walked in.
The husband turned to her, his voice suddenly different.
"You knew?
You knew this whole time?"
She looked at him for a long moment.
Then she said softly:
"I wanted to see who you really were."
Grandma stepped forward, her voice shaking with rage.
"This is a trick.
A lie.
I want everyone out of this house—"
"Your house?" her son said quietly.
He was staring at the file now.
His hands were trembling.
Because the file didn't just show the property deed.
It showed something else.
Something with his name on it.
Something he had signed four years ago — before the wedding.
