When Lily's father pressed play, his hand went still.
He watched his daughter sit frozen at her desk while Mrs.
Hartley stood over her, scissors moving through her hair like it meant nothing.
Like Lily meant nothing.
He watched it three times without saying a word.
Then he set the phone down on the kitchen table and looked at Lily.
"How long has this been happening?"
Lily stared at her hands.
"It was just the once, Dad."
"Lily."
She looked up.
Her eyes filled again.
"She said my hair was a distraction.
She said I should have tied it back.
She said—"
"She said nothing that makes this acceptable." His voice was quiet.
That kind of quiet that meant something was coming.
He picked up his car keys.
"Dad, please don't make it worse—"
"I'm not going to the school." He paused at the door.
"I'm going to see a lawyer first."
Lily blinked.
"Why a lawyer?"
He turned back, and his expression stopped her cold.
"Because Sophia's recording isn't the only one."
