Chapter 2: I Just Needed Her Gone

Part 2 ⬇️

The room went completely still.

Daniel stared at his phone.

The figure on the screen was close enough now.

He pressed play.

The person reached into a coat pocket, pulled out a small key, and opened Elena's locker.

They placed something inside.

Then they turned.

Vivian's face filled the screen.

No one spoke.

Not the officer.

Not Elena.

Not even Mason.

Then Vivian said it — quietly, almost to herself: "I just needed her gone."

The officer already had his radio in his hand.

"Ma'am, I'm going to need you to stay where you are."

Vivian's composure cracked for the first time.

"You don't understand what she's doing to this family.

Daniel hasn't been thinking clearly since Patricia d*ed.

This woman has too much influence over my grandchildren."

Daniel looked up slowly.

"Her name was Mom.

And you just admitted everything."

Elena's hands were still cuffed.

Caleb hadn't let go of her apron.

The officer stepped toward Vivian.

But before he reached her, Vivian turned to Daniel with something cold in her eyes.

"Ask her," she said.

"Ask Elena why she was really in Patricia's room last Tuesday.

Ask her what she took from the drawer beside the bed."

Daniel froze.

Elena's face changed.

Just slightly.

But he saw it.

---

What was Elena doing in Patricia's room — and what did Vivian actually see?

The full truth is more complicated than anyone in that foyer realized.
