Chapter 2: The Name That Changed Everything

The guards grabbed Elena's arms.

She didn't struggle.

She didn't even raise her voice.

She simply looked back at Victoria over her shoulder — and smiled.

That smile made Victoria take one step back.

"Who is she?" someone whispered nearby.

No one answered.

Victoria straightened her dress and lifted her chin.

"It doesn't matter.

This is my event.

My house.

My name on every wall in this city."

But her hands were shaking.

One of the senior staff — a man who had worked the property for over twenty years — walked past Victoria without a word.

He went straight to Elena.

He stopped.

He bowed his head slightly.

"Ms.

Vance.

I didn't know you were coming tonight."

The room went quiet.

Victoria's smile disappeared completely.

"That's...

that's not possible," she said.

"The Vance family lost everything.

They were finished years ago."

Elena turned to face her one last time.

"Is that what they told you?"

She reached into her coat and placed a single folded document on the table beside her.

No one touched it.

No one spoke.

Victoria stared at it — and something behind her eyes shifted from anger into fear.

---

What was in that document — and why did Victoria's face go white the moment she saw it?
