Chapter 1: The Table That Broke Everything

"Why are you acting so strange?" I asked, setting down my glass as I stared across the dinner table.

"Are you pregnant or something?"

My younger sister froze, her fork hovering in mid-air.

She gently touched her abdomen, refusing to meet my eyes.

"I was going to tell you..."

A cold pit formed in my stomach.

I looked from her nervous expression over to my husband, who suddenly seemed very interested in his plate.

"Wait..." I leaned forward, my voice dropping.

"Who is the father?"

"Please don't do this right now," she whispered, her eyes darting nervously toward the head of the table.

Following her gaze, my eyes locked onto my husband, whose jaw was tight as he stared blankly at his glass.

"Why are you looking at my husband?!" I snapped, the realization hitting me like a physical blow.

😤

"Baby, calm down," he stammered, raising his hands in a weak attempt to placate me.

"Oh hell no!" I sl@mmed my hands onto the table, standing up so fast my chair rattled.

"You got my sister pregnant?!" 💔

"I'm sorry..." my sister sobbed, covering her face in shame.

Before anyone could say another word, heavy footsteps echoed from the hallway.

My mother stepped into the dining room, tears streaming down her face as she pressed a trembling hand against her own noticeably rounded stomach.

"Baby..." she choked out, her voice trembling with unbearable guilt.

"She ain't the only one." 😨

The room fell into a suffocating silence.

My bl00d ran completely cold as I stared at my mother, unable to process the betrayal collapsing my entire family at once.

"What do you mean she ain't the only one?!" 🔥
