Chapter 2: The Envelope

Part 2 ⬇️

The wedding hall erupted.

Guests jumped to their feet.

Some shouted.

Some grabbed their phones.

A flower girl near the front row started to cry.

But the bride didn't move.

She stood at the altar, watching Marcus walk away, and slowly — a cold smile crossed her face.

Her mother leaned in and whispered, "Let him go.

We don't need him anymore."

Marcus stopped walking.

He turned around.

"What did you just say?"

The bride's mother lifted her chin.

"You heard me.

This marriage was never really about love, Marcus.

It was about that house.

And one way or another…

we will have it."

The guests fell silent.

Marcus stared at the woman he almost married.

Something shifted in his face — not anger this time.

Something colder.

Like a man who had just understood something he should have seen a long time ago.

His mother gripped his arm.

"Marcus," she said quietly.

"The envelope.

Show them the envelope."

The bride's smile disappeared.

"What envelope?" she snapped.

Marcus reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a folded document.

His hand was steady.

His voice was steady.

"The one your lawyer sent me three weeks ago."

💥 What's inside that envelope — and how long has Marcus known the truth?
