Chapter 2: The Man Nobody Recognized

The guests went silent.
The bride stood frozen at the altar, her bouquet shaking in her hands.
The groom didn't look back.
His mother, Margaret, sat in the front row with her hands folded in her lap.
Her dress was plain.
Her shoes were worn.
But her back was straight, and her eyes were dry.
One of the bridesmaids grabbed the bride's arm.
Bridesmaid: Just apologize.
Say you're sorry and he'll come back.
Bride: I'm not apologizing to her.
She's embarrassing.
Look at her.
The words carried further than she intended.
A few guests in the front rows heard everything.
Margaret slowly turned her head.
For a long moment, the two women looked at each other across the aisle.
Then Margaret stood up.
She walked to the center of the room, calm and quiet, and faced her son.
Margaret: Daniel.
Come home.
The groom stopped walking.
His shoulders dropped.
He turned around.
And then someone in the back of the room stood up — a man no one recognized — and said four words that made the bride go completely pale.
Stranger: She needs to know.
---
What does that man know — and why did the bride's face change the moment he spoke?
The truth behind this wedding is deeper than anyone in that room realized.
