Chapter 1: The Most Expensive Mistake

My CEO husband publicly shamed me at a banquet for his mistress, unaware that I held the ultimate power to destr0y him in seconds.

The room went utterly silent when my husband raised his champagne glass.

He stared directly at me and called me 'the most expensive mistake I ever made.'

Then he drew his mistress against his side and kissed her in front of four hundred guests.

He expected me to cry.

I didn't.

Cameras flashed as half the city's business elite observed us from tables draped in black silk.

His mother was seated near the stage in diamonds I had paid to insure.

His brother wore a watch purchased through my family office.

Even his mistress had pulled up in a silver Bentley registered to my company.

My husband smiled down from the stage and declared she was the new Vice President.

Laughter spread through the room.

His mother bent toward me and told me to leave with dignity.

I rose, took out my phone, and called my family attorney.

'Execute the voting consent,' I said softly.

'Terminate the CEO and repossess every vehicle.'

His family laughed and said I had lost my mind.

My husband stepped off the stage, grinning.

'You can't fire me.'

I looked him de@d in the eye.

'No,' I whispered.

'But the person who owns sixty-eight percent of the voting shares can.'

For the first time that night, his smile disappeared.
