Chapter 1: The Ring on the Table

My mother-in-law gestured toward my father before hundreds of wedding guests and called him “Tsk tsk trash.” The woman I was meant to marry didn’t defend him—she laughed.
The whole ballroom went silent as my father lowered his eyes, refusing to give them the response they wanted.
My bride murmured that her mother was “just being honest.” That was the moment something inside me went cold.
I quietly removed my wedding ring, set it on the table, and said, “Then this wedding is over.”
My bride clutched my arm, begging me not to ruin everything.
I ignored her, took my father outside, and stepped with him into the pouring rain.
Then a polished black luxury car pulled up beside us.
A well-dressed man stepped out, opened an umbrella, bowed respectfully to my father, and said, “Mr.
Henderson, they’re waiting for you.”
Behind me, my bride suddenly stopped crying…
Why were they waiting for Mr.
May you like
Henderson—and how will the bride react?
