Chapter 1: The Kick That Was Meant to End Everything

My sister looked me directly in the eyes before kicking my six-month pregnant belly.

"This is what you get for thinking you're better than family!"

The impact knocked me onto the grass.

I wrapped both hands around my stomach, waiting for my baby girl to move.

Nothing.

Not one kick.

Not one flutter.

My sister immediately began crying.

Not because she regretted hurting me.

Because our teenage cousin had recorded everything.

"She came at me!"

"It was an accident!"

My parents rushed to defend her while I struggled to breathe.

Then my husband dropped beside me, called 911, and looked at every relative who had stood there without helping.

His voice was quiet.

Cold.

Final.

"Nobody moves."

When the police arrived, my father tried to gr@b the recording.

My mother quietly took the inheritance documents that had started the argument.

And at the hospital, doctors discovered my sister's kick was only the beginning of a much darker plan.

Someone in my family did not just want my baby hurt.

They needed her gone before the trust became permanent.
