Chapter 1: The Morning She Showed Her Hand

She demanded THREE properties for her son while Marcus left him just ONE…

But when she threatened to kick his daughter out, he made a decision she NEVER saw coming.

The sharp scent of freshly brewed espresso and buttery omelets filled the sunlit kitchen, but the atmosphere at the marble island was ice-cold.

Marcus sat in his navy silk pajamas, fork in hand, trying to enjoy a quiet breakfast.

Before he could even swallow his first bite, Eleanor slammed a thick stack of legal papers onto the counter right beside his plate.

"Steven gets three properties.

One isn't enough," Eleanor declared, leaning in so close her shadow completely blocked his plate.

Marcus slowly set down his fork, his eyes narrowing as he turned his head toward her.

"You serious?"

"We're married, Marcus!

My son is your responsibility too," Eleanor snapped, her voice rising as she tapped her manicured nail aggressively against the documents.

In the doorway leading to the hallway, Maya — Marcus's nineteen-year-old daughter — stood silently, her eyes wide with anxiety as she watched her stepmother demand her family's heritage.

😤

Marcus took a slow, measured breath, staring at his wife of two years with a cold, unyielding gaze.

"He's a twenty-five-year-old adult, Eleanor.

And these properties belong to my family.

They were built by my grandfather long before you or Steven ever stepped foot into this house."

Eleanor's face contorted with rage.

Stripped of her arguments, she leaned down until her face was inches from his, her eyes flashing with pure malice.

"Then Maya can leave.

I'll throw your daughter out of that house myself!" 💔

The air in the room shattered.

Before Eleanor could even draw another breath, Marcus rose from his seat, his broad frame towering over her as he sl*mmed his hand onto the island counter.

"Say that again.

You want to throw Maya out?"

Eleanor recoiled slightly, startled by the sudden intensity in his eyes, but she stubbornly held her ground.

Marcus reached down, snatched the top document from the pile, and held it up right between their faces.

"Re-deed to Aicy?

That house is already legally hers.

It has been since the day she turned eighteen." His voice dropped to a lethal, dangerous whisper that chilled the room.

"And after threatening my daughter, you won't control another property I own." 🔥

Eleanor's chest heaved as panic finally began to pierce through her arrogance.

"What are you saying?!" 😨

Marcus didn't blink.

He casually tossed the top page aside, revealing the notarized deed beneath it, and pointed a single finger at the signature line at the bottom.

"Read whose name I removed this morning."
