Chapter 1: The Last Thing She Left Me

She destroyed the last precious memory my late mother gave me—and she never imagined my father's reaction would tear everything apart in a single second.

The harsh sound of tearing fabric shattered the joyful atmosphere in the room before I could even finish adjusting my hemline.

My breath caught in my throat as cold hands brutally ripped the soft ivory chiffon of my graduation dress right at the shoulder.

💔

"Stop!

That's my graduation dress!" I sobbed, frantically trying to pull the ruined fabric back together over my shoulder, tears streaming uncontrollably down my face.

This wasn't just a dress; it was the final gift my mother had chosen for me before she passed away.

"You don't deserve it," my stepmother sneered, her eyes gleaming with cruel satisfaction.

Without a moment of hesitation, she grabbed the flowing skirt of the dress and yanked it violently, tearing the delicate embroidery completely to shreds.

"Wait!

What did you do to my daughter?!" my father's powerful voice roared from the entrance of the foyer.

His heavy footsteps echoed on the marble floor as he rushed over, his face flushed with sudden rage as he took in my tear-stained face and the ruined gown.

My stepmother didn't even flinch.

She simply crossed her arms, smoothing down her own vibrant emerald green silk gown, and scoffed with cold indifference.

"It's just a dress.

Stop overreacting."

My father stood before her, his jaw tightly clenched and his chest heaving.

His voice dropped to a low, dangerous whisper that silenced the entire room.

"Then you won't mind what happens next." 😤

Her smirk faltered for a fraction of a second, but she quickly lifted her chin in defiance.

"Dad, don't you dare!"

Before the words could fully leave her lips, my father reached out, his large hands gripping the tightly fitted collar of her expensive green gown, and with one decisive pull, tore the fabric wide open.

😨
