Chapter 1: The Night the Door Opened

The wedding night at the mansion was supposed to be perfect.

Warm wall lamps lit the polished marble floor, golden reflections danced across the dark wooden staircase, and soft music from the reception floated through the halls.

Guests downstairs were still celebrating, unaware that only one floor above them, the night was about to turn into a nightmare.

Claire, the maid, was stepping down the upstairs corridor with a folded linen cloth in her hands when she heard it.

A child crying.

At first, she froze.

Then she followed the sound to a closed door near the grand staircase.

The crying grew louder.

A little voice trembled from inside, begging to be let out.

Claire dropped the cloth and pulled at the handle, but the door was locked.

Her face turned pale.

😨

Moments later, the groom, Daniel, rushed upstairs in his black tuxedo, breathless and confused after hearing shouting from the hallway.

Claire pointed at the door, nearly in tears.

"Sir, she locked him in that room!"

Before Daniel could answer, his bride appeared behind them in her sparkling silver-white gown, her blonde-brown hair in a slightly messy high bun.

She raised one hand, forcing a nervous smile.

"She's lying," the bride said.

"I would never h*rt him."

Daniel looked from Claire to the door, then back to his bride.

"Tell me exactly what happened."

Claire's voice shook.

"I heard him crying.

He was trapped in there.

I swear."

Daniel moved toward the door, anger beginning to break through his confusion.

He grabbed the handle, and after a second of fumbling with the lock, the door opened.

The little boy came stumbling out.

😢

His blonde hair was messy, his tiny dark suit wrinkled, and tears covered his face.

He didn't run to the bride.

He didn't run to his father.

He ran straight into Claire's arms.

The hallway went silent.

Claire dropped to her knees and held him tightly as he sobbed against her shoulder.

Daniel froze at the sight of his son clinging to the maid like she was the only safe person in the house.

Then the little boy looked up through tears and pointed at the bride.

"She said I would ruin the wedding!" 💔

Daniel turned slowly toward his bride.

Her nervous smile vanished.

The truth was no longer hidden behind the locked door.

But then Claire whispered something else, almost too soft to hear:

"This isn't the first time she's done this."

Daniel's eyes widened.

The bride took one step backward.

🔥

Because suddenly, this wasn't just about a frightened child on his wedding night.

It was about what else she had done before anyone caught her.

What will Daniel do when he learns the full truth about his bride?
