Chapter 1: The Girl on the Cold Floor

"YOUR DADDY ISN'T HERE," THE HOUSEKEEPER MOCKED THE CRYING 4-YEAR-OLD — NOT KNOWING HE WAS ALREADY STANDING JUST OUTSIDE THE DOOR.

😳💔

The little girl knelt on the cold marble floor, desperately scrubbing with a tiny wet cloth.

Her hands were red.

Her cheeks were streaked with tears.

"Please…

can I stop?"

Across the room, the housekeeper sat comfortably eating steak.

Instead of helping her, she slammed her silverware down.

"KEEP CLEANING!"

The little girl began sobbing harder.

"I want my Daddy…"

The housekeeper smiled.

"Your daddy isn't coming."

Then the mansion door suddenly flew open.

"Daddy…?"

The housekeeper froze.

The girl's father stood in the doorway, staring at everything.

The cloth.

The unfinished floor.

His daughter trembling on her knees.

And the expensive dinner sitting in front of the woman who was supposed to care for her.

He rushed toward his daughter and lifted her up.

Then he slowly turned around.

The housekeeper started stammering.

"It's not what you think—"

His next question silenced the entire room.

"What have you been doing to my daughter while I'm gone?"

What will he do when she tries to explain?
