Chapter 1: The Dog Who Was Supposed to Be Gone

"Get that filthy animal out of here!
Put him down and get out!" 😤
The high-pitched screech broke the quiet elegance of the crystal-chandeliered banquet room.
Standing beside the main table in a flowing red silk dress, the host's fiancée pointed a manicured finger at the maid.
Kneeling on the gleaming marble floor, the young servant cradled a soaking-wet German Shepherd, her body shaking with sob-wracked breaths as the crowd murmured.
Before security could intervene, the host raced across the room, ignoring the stunned gasps of his guests.
He dropped heavily to his knees on the cold tile, his costly suit soaking up water as he wrapped his arms around the wet dog.
"Bruno!" he gasped, his voice cracking as he cupped the animal's face.
"Where did you find my dog?"
The maid wiped away a stream of tears, clutching the collar tight.
"He was locked in the garage, sir...
His water bowl was empty." 💔
A heavy silence settled over the room.
The host froze, his breathing ragged as tear tracks cut through his expression.
Slowly, he turned his head toward his fiancée, his eyes ablaze with sudden, agonizing betrayal.
"You told me he d!ed!" he whispered, the fury beneath his words cutting through the hall.
The woman in the red dress stepped back slightly, her face draining of color as she gripped her wine glass.
"I...
I thought he was sick, Luca!" 😨
The host ignored her excuse, turning gently back to the dog and resting a hand on its head.
"Emma, take Bruno inside.
You're not fired."
He slowly rose to his full height, turning his gaze entirely back onto his fiancée as the room held its collective breath 🔥.
