Chapter 1: The Device He Should Never Have Touched

"What's this supposed to be?" Officer Miller snickered, holding up the slim, matte-black device he’d just taken from the desk.

"A secure government communications device," Brigadier General Sarah Hayes replied, her voice staying impossibly cool and controlled.

Miller scoffed, exchanging an amused glance with the junior deputy standing nearby.

"Government?"

"I strongly advise you not to interfere with it," Sarah said, her tone carrying a sudden, razor-sharp edge.

"I'd like to make my call now."

Without waiting for his permission, she moved toward the wall-mounted telephone and lifted the receiver.

She dialed a series of quick digits without hesitation, her voice clear and echoing off the cold tiles: "Echo 7 Tango 9, Black Sky 4, Priority Flash." 😤

The smug smirk immediately vanished from Miller’s face.

The room fell into a thick, suffocating silence as the deputy shifted nervously behind him.

"This is Brigadier General Sarah Hayes, United States Army," she announced, her dark eyes locking onto Miller with l3thal precision.

"My secure communications device has been confiscated." 😨
