Chapter 1: The Woman With the Suitcase

"Why are you packing, Mom?"
Marcus stood in the doorway of the guest bedroom, his breath catching in his throat as he watched his sixty-five-year-old mother, Evelyn, fold a faded floral blouse with trembling hands.
A half-filled suitcase lay open on the bed.
Her eyes were red-rimmed, heavy with a quiet, unbearable shame.
"Your wife told me I can't live here anymore," Evelyn whispered, her voice breaking as a single tear slipped down her cheek.
"She said...
she said it's time for me to go." 💔
The words hit Marcus like a physical blow.
A cold, suffocating anger instantly replaced the confusion in his chest, making his jaw tighten so hard it ached.
Without another word, he turned on his heel and marched down the hallway toward the sunlit living room.
There sat his wife, Jasmine, draped in a luxurious white silk robe, sipping tea beside her own mother, who was casually lounging on the plush sofa in a matching black silk garment.
"You told my mother to leave?" Marcus demanded, his voice dangerously low as he stepped directly in front of them.
Jasmine didn't even flinch.
She set her teacup down with a delicate click and looked up at him, entirely unbothered.
"She has somewhere else to go, Marcus," she said smoothly, as if discussing the weather.
"My mother needs a home, and there simply isn't enough room for both of them." 😤
"So your mother can live here, but mine can't?" Marcus stared at her, utterly appalled by the sheer callousness in her voice.
Jasmine stood up, crossing her arms tightly, her eyes flashing with sudden defiance.
"This is my house too, Marcus!
I have a say in who stays under this roof!"
"Fine," Marcus snapped, moving closer, his entire frame tense with fury.
"If my mother leaves, your mother leaves too.
And in case you forgot..." He leaned in, letting every single word burn into her.
"...I own this house.
The deed is in my name alone.
Both of you, pack your things and get out!" 🔥
Jasmine's mother gasped, clutching her chest in utter disbelief, her smug demeanor instantly shattering into pure panic.
Before Jasmine could utter a single word of protest, the soft sound of rolling luggage echoed behind them.
Evelyn was slowly making her way toward the front door, her head bowed, holding a small black suitcase.
Marcus immediately spun around, his harsh expression softening as he rushed over and placed a gentle hand on his mother's arm.
"Not you, Mom," Marcus said softly, taking the suitcase handle from her hand.
"You're staying."
He turned back to face Jasmine, whose face had gone completely pale, her mouth hanging open in sheer horror as the realization of what she had just destroyed finally set in 😨.

Did Jasmine really think Marcus would let this go?
